There are some images that are essential for the study of nature and ourselves. They give us access to places that our visual perception is unable to reach, like micro and macroscopic worlds. They help us in the understanding of the complexity from the world around us, and they help us to believe that we are able to reach certain level of truth. I'm talking about scientific images, the images that are able to expand our perception through a great variety of machines.

 

Although this scientific image is always mediated by different devices,  we understand it as a trustful presentation of reality, and in many cases, we also use it as a proof to explain many different theories.

 

Those images, and digital imagery in general, have been introduced in such a profound way in our daily lives, that it has become an essential and natural part of the landscape around us. Becoming also an important  element of how we understand and perceive the world. 

 

This project seeks to question our trust in scientific images by creating images that can be perceived as living organisms, micro organisms or even outer spacial formations using only digital errors. This also opens the question for the limits between what is alive and what is not.
